Lip filler - injection treatment

Eva, kosmetisk sykepleier på Klinikk A, tilbyr injeksjonsbehandling for overdreven svette.

Lip filler

Lip fillers add fullness and volume to the lips. Over the course of a lifetime, the structure of the face will constantly change. The lips become thinner, while the corners of the mouth sag more as a result of gravity. As a result, we often find that we look more tired when we look in the mirror, and that our mouths look more sour when relaxed.

The lips have a lot to do with the overall impression of the face and play a major role in how we look. The most important thing to consider when carrying out a lip treatment is how the lips are already shaped and what you can do to emphasize the symmetry and aesthetics of the lip shape itself. It's important to maintain the natural balance between the upper and lower lip if you want your lips to complement the rest of your face.

What is filler?

Filler consists mainly of hyaluronic acid, which is almost identical to the body's own.

The product binds to water and helps to moisturize the skin from the inside out. The product also takes care of the collagen and elastin fibers in the skin, which in turn helps to restore the skin's structure and fullness. Fine lines and wrinkles will therefore be smoothed out, while the skin will retain moisture better.

There are several different types of fillers on the market today that can be used for different purposes. The most common areas to treat are the face, chest, neck and hands.

The best-known brands on the market today are Restylane and Juvederm. These products are of high quality and are both FDA approved in the USA (Food and Drug Administration).

This means that a number of studies have been carried out that provide reliable documentation that these are safe, quality-assured products that can be injected into the skin.

What is the difference between Restylane and Juvederm?

Both Restylane and Juvederm are high-quality hyaluronic acid injections, i.e. fillers, that help restore skin volume and structure. Both brands are non-animal products, which means they are safe to inject into the skin and reactions after treatment are rare. Both brands contain lidocaine (dental anesthetic) which helps to numb the area to be treated during the treatment.

What distinguishes Juvederm from Restylane is mainly the molecular structure of the products, as well as the consistency of the gel to be injected.

Both effect and duration are roughly the same, depending on which areas are treated and which products are used.

Who is suitable for treatment?

It is important to point out that this is not a treatment that we recommend everyone to perform, and that we have a 20-year age limit if you want to have such a treatment performed with us. A filler can help to restore the structure of the lips, while also moisturizing the lip tissue from the inside out. This helps to give the lips a natural fullness and can reduce acidic corners of the mouth. With filler treatment, we recommend that you build up a result gradually over time, to build up a natural result that suits your appearance and starting point. Too much filler at once results in a dramatic increase in volume, which can cause the filler to move away from the treatment area. The shape of the lips can change and in some cases the lip tissue can also be damaged.

How do I look directly after treatment?

You will see the results of a filler treatment directly after the treatment itself. The results last approximately 4-8 months, depending on which product has been injected into the skin.

How does a treatment work?

When you first arrive for a consultation, the cosmetic nurse will sit down with you to discuss your needs, wishes and expectations regarding lip treatment with fillers. The cosmetic nurse will then give you an assessment of what can be done based on the starting point you already have, and what is required to achieve your wishes and expectations.

Prior to the lip treatment, you will receive anesthetic cream on your lips, which can help reduce any discomfort during the treatment itself. There is also lidocaine (dental anesthetic) in the syringe itself. When injecting the lip product, we use a thin needle, which makes it less uncomfortable to insert the needle into the skin. The product is then slowly injected into the lip tissue. The number of injections depends on the techniques to be used and how much needs to be filled and corrected.

How do I look directly after a lip treatment with filler?

Directly after treatment, red dots may appear on the skin after the needle pricks, but these often disappear shortly afterwards. The lips may swell a little directly after treatment, and will continue to be swollen for 24 hours after the treatment itself. Bruises are also not uncommon, but these can be covered with make-up the next day. Avoid exercise and sauna on the same day. You should also not apply make-up for the next few hours after treatment. When treating lips, it is recommended that you avoid tobacco products and food for the first hour after treatment. There is a 20-year age limit for our treatments.

Before and after pictures

Before and after photos have long been prohibited when it comes to cosmetic surgery in Norway. On 21.3.2023, new guidelines were introduced where before and after photos now also include injection treatments and other cosmetic treatments that penetrate the skin.

Before and after pictures are therefore not posted on our website or other social platforms linked to the clinic. If you want to see pictures of results that have been done, you can access this when you come to a consultation.

Cancellation and cancellation deadline

The consultation with the nurse is free of charge. If canceled less than 24 hours in advance, or in case of no-show, NOK 600 will be charged. This applies to the consultation with the nurse.

Who performs the treatment

Fille treatment is performed by a cosmetic dermatology nurse at the clinic. The practitioner always sets aside enough time to make a thorough assessment when you come for a consultation, so that you get the result you are looking for. If you want to book an appointment for a consultation, you can do so by phone: 22 38 20 20 or by direct booking online on our website.
