LED light treatment

LED light therapy is an effective treatment that improves skin quality. The LED lamp is set to specific wavelengths for the light, which is adapted to what is to be treated. There are three main areas where LED light therapy is used:

  1. As part of other skin treatments such as DermaPen, peels or surgery.
  2. Acne treatment, especially young skin, but also older skin.
  3. Wrinkle treatment.

What is LED light therapy

LED light therapy is light energy in the red and infrared range of the light spectrum for use in skin treatment. Our Celluma LED lamp accelerates skin healing after ablative facial resurfacing, i.e. peeling and micro needling. The device provides localized heat in the IR spectrum to raise the tissue temperature. This provides temporary relief of moderate muscle and joint pain, arthritis and muscle spasms; relieve stiffness; promote relaxation of muscle tissue, and to temporarily increase blood circulation locally. The blue spectrum reduces mild to moderate acne vulgaris.

The light-emitting diodes (LEDs) from Celluma deliver three different wavelengths (880 nm, 640 nm and 465 nm) simultaneously to address a range of skin and musculoskeletal conditions. All three wavelengths work together in each of the programs to optimally address specific conditions. The advantage of using three wavelengths is that the light-absorbing molecules respond to different wavelengths of light energy, resulting in increased activity at different depths in the tissue.
The unique, lightweight and flexible design of Celluma molds closely to the body for more efficient absorption of energy into the tissue.

Contraindications and precautions

  • Do not use over breast or stomach during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Do not use on children or babies.
  • Do not use on people with epilepsy or who have had seizures.
  • Avoid use when the patient is taking cortisone injections or other form of steroid injection(s).
  • Avoid use if the patient is on photosensitive medication.
  • Do not perform LED therapy over known cancerous tumor or metastasis.

When should I use acne mode?

Use Celluma Acne mode at the first signs of acne. The treatment consists of 12 treatment sessions spread over 4 weeks - 3 treatments per week.

When should I use Red Light mode?

Use Celluma Red Light mode for the treatment of wrinkles. The treatment consists of 12 treatment sessions spread over 4 weeks - 3 treatments per week. (According to MDD 93/42/EEC, the treatment of facial wrinkles is not considered a medical treatment in the EU and Celluma is therefore not assessed by BSI for this purpose).

For faster skin recovery after ablative resurfacing of the face

Celluma can be used immediately after the ablative procedure. The best clinical results are achieved by treating immediately after and then 48-72 hours after the procedure and then 7, 10, 14 and 21 days after. Direct contact between the wound site and Celluma should be avoided to reduce the risk of infection. To further reduce the risk of infection, clean the light panel of Celluma with CaviWipes before use. Place Celluma inside the hygiene sleeve. Wipe the surface of the sleeve with an alcohol wipe and place it at least 1 cm from the wound.

When should I use "Aches & Pains"?

Use Aches & Pains mode to treat and temporarily relieve minor muscle and joint pain, stiffness, moderate arthritis or muscle spasms, and to temporarily increase blood circulation locally. The treatment consists of 12 treatment sessions spread over 4 weeks - 3 treatments per week.

What is the intended use of Celluma?

The Biophotas Celluma device will provide heat in the IR spectrum to provide localized heating to raise tissue temperature. This for temporary relief of moderate muscle and joint pain, arthritis and muscle spasms. It relieves stiffness; promotes relaxation in the muscle tissue, and it temporarily increases local blood circulation.

The blue spectrum is intended to reduce inflammatory acne vulgaris. Celluma is intended to emit energy in the red and infrared regions of the spectrum for use in the dermatological treatment of wrinkles and the improved treatment of wounds after laser ablative facial resurfacing.According to MDD 93/42/EEC, the treatment of facial wrinkles is not considered a medical treatment in the EU and Celluma is therefore not assessed by BSI for this intended purpose)

Does Celluma use UV light?

No, it doesn't. UV light has a wavelength of less than 400 nm.

How long does a treatment with Celluma last?

15 to 30 minutes.

Are there any special preparations required before using Celluma?

Celluma should be used as close to the skin as possible and the skin should be free of clothing, makeup or anything else that may reduce the effect of the light. Never look directly at the light and use the iGoggles provided or other appropriate eye protection.

Why is it recommended to remove makeup?

Many makeup formulas contain minerals that can deflect light. For best results, clean, freshly washed skin is recommended.

How close should Celluma be placed to the skin?

Place Celluma as close to the surface of the skin as possible. The closer Celluma is to the skin, the more energy is absorbed by the cells. Do not look directly into the light, and protect your eyes with the iGoggles supplied with Celluma, or other appropriate eye protection.

Can I take Celluma with me when I travel?

Features. Celluma is lightweight and portable, making it ideal for traveling to or from the office or gym. Be sure to check for the correct voltage if traveling abroad. An international travel adapter kit is supplied with the power cable and includes adapters for Europe, the UK and Australia.

What should I do if I can't use Celluma?

If the problem is medical, please consult your doctor.

Why do some rows of diodes look like they are not emitting light?

Each Celluma program uses 3 different wavelengths of therapeutic light. For example, the Acne program uses blue, red and infrared wavelengths, with blue being dominant. Both blue and red wavelengths are visible to the human eye. However, infrared is not visible. The circuit on the Celluma panel that does not appear to emit any light is the near-infrared circuit. Notice: There is a diode with a green light in each corner of the Celluma panel. This light indicates that the near-infrared circuit is operating.

Responsible doctor

Plastic surgeon Dr. Ståle Buhagen is medically responsible for Klinikk A. At Klinikk A, we have an interdisciplinary approach to medical skin treatment, with access to a plastic surgeon at all times. The patient's safety and security is the most important thing to ensure proper treatment. Fortunately, the authorities' regulation of injection treatment has become stricter, and there is now a requirement for a doctor to be present at clinics that perform injection treatment.
