The treatment can be performed on the face, neck, chest and hands. It can also be used over large parts of the body, for those who want to work on scars and skin structure.
The treatment is carried out by first cleansing and washing the skin thoroughly, so that the skin is sterile before the treatment begins.
We then map out which products we want to apply to the skin, based on the condition of the skin and the patient's own wishes in terms of results, downtime and indication. Some want to work more preventively, while others have specific problem areas such as scars and pigment spots in the skin. Some want to work deeper into the skin, while others want to work more superficially. This varies from person to person. The deeper you work, the faster you see results. If you want to work deeper into the skin, you need to be prepared for a little more downtime after treatment.
The treatment itself lasts between 20-40 minutes depending on what you want to work on. We often use Dermapen in combination with other treatments to enhance the results. These can be treatments such as chemical peels that contribute to increased cell renewal, or mesotherapy that gives the skin vitality and nourishment.
The treatment isn't completely painless, but it's completely manageable. The deeper into the skin you work, the more you will feel the device working in the skin. If you wish, you can get anesthetic cream in advance, but this is not recommended as it can affect the end result.
It is recommended to have 4-6 treatments at approximately 6-8 week intervals at the start of the treatment course. Thereafter, 2-4 maintenance treatments a year are sufficient, depending on your own wishes, genetics and lifestyle. Already after the first treatment, you will notice an improvement in the skin's vitality, barrier function and evenness. Over time, you'll also see visible results on fine lines and skin elasticity. You will usually see this after 3-6 treatments.
Dermapen helps to activate the skin's own cells so that the skin continues to repair itself for 6-12 months after each treatment. This is also preventative when it comes to preventing new damage to the skin over time.
Immediately after treatment, the skin is red and may feel somewhat sunburnt. The redness subsides quickly, and you will notice that the redness is considerably less after just a few hours the same day. This is because the skin repairs itself and therefore reduces the redness quickly to avoid inflammation. Make-up can be applied the same day, and you can go straight back to work after treatment if you wish.
