Before surgery

What is the difference between breast augmentation and silicone breasts?

Breast augmentation describes the enlargement of the breasts through surgery, for example using your own fat or silicone implants. Silicone dolls is a term that describes breast augmentation with silicone implants.

Should I get breast augmentation above or below the muscle?

There is a growing trend for silicone implants to be placed in front of the pectoral muscle. In the past, breast augmentation was often performed below the muscle, but with today's prosthetic technology and surgical techniques, we can often place the prosthesis in front of the muscle.

Do I have to put the silicone prostheses under the muscle?

No, very often we can place it in front of the muscle. In some cases, however, it is advantageous to place it under the muscle, but we can clarify this during a consultation.

What is the advantage of placing silicone prostheses in front of the pectoral muscle?

When we place the prosthesis in front of the muscle, the muscle and muscle strength are completely intact. Where we have to place the prosthesis under the muscle, the women lose some strength.

What are silicone boobs made of?

The silicone implants used for breast augmentation are made of silicone.

I want a natural look - is that possible?

Yes - as long as we take your anatomy into account and choose the right prosthetics, the result will look natural.

Can I decide the size of the prosthesis myself?

The size of a silicone prosthesis depends on a number of factors, such as your height, weight, chest dimensions and your wishes. You will clarify the final size with your surgeon during the consultation before surgery. If you have very specific wishes for a particular volume, this may not always suit your body. In that case, the surgeon will discuss this with you.

Which is more common: teardrop-shaped dentures - or round dentures?

Round dentures are most common. There has long been a trend to use round dentures rather than teardrop-shaped (anatomical) dentures.

I want larger breasts but do not want silicone. Are there any alternatives for me?

Yes, breast augmentation with your own fat is performed both with and without a silicone prosthesis.

How can you enlarge your breasts with your own fat?

In the case of breast augmentation with your own fat, we transfer fat from elsewhere on the body to the breasts. The method of extracting the fat is the same as we use for liposuction, but the fat is then processed and prepared so that it can be inserted into the breasts.

Is there an unlimited amount of fat that can be inserted into my breasts?

The body has a limited ability to accept fat in the breasts. There are individual variations, but the surgeon cannot insert as much as he wants. You can, however, repeat the procedure at a later date and thus increase the size of your breasts in several stages. You will then have the opportunity to increase the size of the breasts by approximately the same amount each time.

Can someone else donate fat to my breasts?

No, you can't. Other people's fat will cause a strong immune reaction, and the fat will not be able to stick.

How much of the fat inserted into the breasts survives?

In most people, about 70 % of what is inserted will stick. If 200 ml of pure fat is inserted, approximately 140 ml will survive.

Is there a risk that the fat will not survive in the breasts after transplantation?

There is a very small percentage of patients who experience that the fat does not stick.

How long do I have to be nicotine-free in connection with a breast augmentation?

We recommend being nicotine-free two weeks before and six weeks after a breast augmentation. This applies to both silicone implants and breast augmentation with your own fat.

What can happen if I smoke or use snuff in connection with a breast augmentation?

The risk of complications increases significantly. Nicotine intake is one of the few things you as a patient can influence to make your surgery as safe as possible

Is there an upper age limit for when I can have breast augmentation with silicone implants?

There is no defined upper age limit for surgery, as long as you are otherwise healthy. Our anesthesiologists will make an individual assessment of whether you can tolerate general anesthesia.

Is there a lower age limit for breast augmentation with silicone implants?

We have chosen to have a 20-year age limit.

How do I know which surgeon is right for me?

Carry out thorough research, read about the surgeon in question on Google reviews and legelisten.no. During the consultation - make up your mind whether you trust the surgeon and that your wishes and needs will be taken care of.

What happens during a consultation?

The surgeon will review previous illnesses, examine you carefully, take photos and possibly perform a 3D simulation. Together you will decide on the planned treatment and the surgeon will inform you about what an operation entails. You will get answers to your questions.

Some people may experience sagging over the prostheses when losing weight.

I have lost fullness in my breasts after breastfeeding and pregnancy, and feel that my breasts are sagging. Can I do a breast lift at the same time as silicone prostheses?

Breast lift and breast augmentation can be done at the same time, given certain conditions. This must be assessed by the surgeon on a case-by-case basis.

Hybrid surgery can also be used to keep the size of the prosthesis down while achieving a significant increase in volume.

Can I combine breast augmentation with other procedures (e.g. liposuction, eyelid surgery or tummy tuck)?
